The aim of this Forward Look is to develop a vision on how computational science will evolve in the coming 5 to 10 years. Based on a scenario of this evolution and the needs of the scientific community, a strategy will be presented how to structure software and hardware support at the European level. The initiative of this Forward Look is taken by the atomic-scale materials simulation community, but the outcome of this Forward Look should be of interest to other computational science communities as well.
Implementations of the recommendations of this Forward Look should lead to an advanced cyber-infrastructure that allows Europe to maintain its leading position in this field.
