Description

Smectite clays are involved in a wide variety of environmental and engineering processes. These lamellar mineral crystals composed of charged sheets exhibit special features towards hydration and ion fixation. Their complex structure leads to multi-porosities. Then the description of such systems requires a multi-scale strategy. Such practical issues have motivated numerous theoretical studies at different levels of description (ab initio simulations, atomic simulations, continuous solvent models, hydrodynamic procedures, etc...) but a general and consistent multiscale description of such systems is still lacking.
This workshop will aim at putting together scientists of clay simulations to link a consistent bridge between the different levels of descriptions.
