PhD Position with Graduate Assistantship in Computational Polymer Science / Organic Chemistry
The University of Vermont (UVM) invites applicants with undergraduate or graduate degrees in chemistry, materials science, physics, engineering, or related fields. Ideal candidates will have a strong interest in molecular-level phenomena governing polymer chemistry and dynamics. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following areas: first-principles (quantum chemical) calculations, molecular dynamics simulations, coarse-grained modeling, and high-performance computing.
The anticipated start date is August 31, 2026, with flexibility to begin as late as January 18, 2027.
Interested applicants should contact Professor Jihong A. Ma (Jihong.Ma@uvm.edu) with:
- A brief statement of research interests
- A summary of relevant experience and technical skills
- A current CV or resume
Selected candidates will be invited to formally apply through either the UVM Department of Mechanical Engineering or the Department of Physics and must meet all graduate admission requirements.
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Additional information about Prof. Ma’s research group can be found at the Laboratory for Advanced Materials.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Please do not send duplicate inquiries.
