A quick overview of the Hermes Summer school (Poster attached): Hermes serves as a broad introduction for masters and early PhD students to the main areas of computational physics and materials science as well as effective communication skills, and is also a great opportunity to meet and network with other research students working in similar fields. The school will take place from 24th-28th July 2020 in the Cumberland Lodge, a beautiful and unique conference venue, historically known for encouraging stimulating discussions. The school consists of an introduction to three of the biggest areas in computational physics and materials science: density functional theory, molecular dynamics and machine learning. There will be research based lectures as well as hands-on practical sessions from leading academics on each of the three subjects. The academic sessions will be supplemented by an excellent program of science communication workshops. The school fee is £375 for early bird registration and £475 for late registration. This fee covers all food and accommodation for the duration of the Summer school (4 nights). Please see our website for more details:
