Open Quantum Systems Computational Methods

The principal objective of the proposed workshop is to bring the leaders in the open quantum systems community to discuss, compare and propose computational methods. These scientist come from very different backgrounds, and have developed different tools. This meeting would allow discussions that will help to dene areas of agreement, of difference and gaps in the existing methods. The individual objectives for this workshop can be detailed as follows:
To understand the advances and limitations of various theoretical and com-putational methods.
Many different theoretical and computational methods in open quantum systems were summarized in the State-of-the-Art. However, there is a lack of understanding of the comparative realm of validity for many of these methods. It is not clear how do these methods overlap or what do they miss in their different assumptions and approximations. Without this understanding, it is not possible to compare results from each of them. Similarly, the computational pros and cons of these methods have not been compared. Understanding this will lead to improved computational methods and a more sophisticated way to chose among the existing ones.
To consolidate a community in computational methods for open quantum systems.
Many of the researchers in this field come from very different research backgrounds. This conference will provide the structure to collaborations between different groups with their respective computational approaches. This will have important implications for future publications and grants by the researchers. It will also allow setting new goals and milestones for the extension of the existing methods.
To establish new collaborations between the participants.
By achieving the previous goals, we will also achieve the goal of building a scientific network between scientists from Europe, United States and Asia that will take this field in scientific directions.
