Hermes 2014 is an entirely student-led summer school that brings together training in materials modelling and science communication. Following on from the great success of Hermes 2012 it will bring together the brightest and best early career researchers from around the world and equip them with the skills they need to maximise their future impact while promoting teamwork and creating a long-lasting international network.
It is a multi-disciplinary event with a series of masterclasses on coupling length scales from leading international academics allowing you to see where your work fits into the wider context of materials modelling. Communication professionals will run workshops to show you the art of effective presentation so that you will leave with the vital skills you need in science communication to bring your research to the attention of the widest audience possible.
Hermes will take place on the 25th - 28th July 2014 at Cumberland Lodge in Windsor Great Park, just a stone's throw from London. This event is designed and led by students from the Theory and Simulation of Materials Centre for Doctoral Training at Imperial College London; the University of Edinburgh and the University of Cambridge.
The master classess will be given by Prof. Craig Carter from MIT, Prof. Peter Gumbsch from , Prof. Nicola Marzari from EPFL and Prof. Sharon Glotzer from the University of Michigan.
