CECAM - Ab-initio Many-Body TheoryAb-initio Many-Body Theory

The School aims at giving a unified overview of the three many-body approaches, GW methods, quantum Monte Carlo methods and dynamical mean field theory. It will give a solid introduction to the description of electronic correlation effects in both weakly and strongly correlated materials using these ab-initio many-body approaches. The School will provide the necessary background and context, highlighting the most challenging problems, and the topics of current interest. Finally, the program will try to achieve a good balance between theoretical and experimental lectures. The School will reach out to young researchers already working in the general field of many-body ab-initio theory, as well as researchers who are not yet practitioners but are interested in acquiring the necessary expertise.

The School is supported by the European Science Foundation (ESF) Marie Curie Series of Events Programme "Psi-k Training in Computational Nanoscience", the ESF Nanoquantas Network of Excellence "European Theoretical Spectroscopy Facility (ETSF)", the ESF Programme "Towards Atomistic Materials Design (Psi-k)", the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC), the Ministero de Educacion y Ciencia and the National Science Foundation (NSF). European Credit Transfer units for the course:

We will use the European Credit Transfer (ECT) system to express the work load of the School: One European Credit corresponds to a work load of 25-30 hours including preparation. Therefore, a certificate of 2 ECTs will be given to all PhD and master students who have successfully participated in the School.
