The school provides training to PhD student level researchers in the fields of statistical mechanics, quantum mechanics, molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo simulation through a combination of lectures, workshops and student led discussions. The school aims predominantly at early year PhDs from a diverse range of backgrounds with the aim of giving them the skills and insights required to carry out research in the area of molecular and liquid and solid state simulations. As last year, this year we will also offer to the students a short introductory workshop on scientific programming (Python and Fortran) to help those among them without pre-knowledge of programming to take full advantage of the practical sessions. The school provides also training in advance modelling techniques and mesoscopic modelling with advanced courses on free energy calculations, ab initio calculations for periodic systems, hyperdynamics, optimization methods, Dissipative Particle Dynamics, Lattice Boltzmann, biological modelling and machine learning.
