Dissipative Particle Dynamics: Foundations to Applications

Dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) has seen widespread uptake as a relatively simple and inexpensive coarse-grained modelling tool, in soft condensed matter. Despite this there remain open questions both in the foundations of the method and in advanced applications, some of which are listed below. The purpose of the workshop is to bring together workers active in the field to share insights, identify approaches to solve key challenges, and hone the ongoing active research programme.
DPD is perhaps unusual in that its development has been driven as much the needs of industry as by academic research and we anticipate significant industrial participation (two of the organisers are from industry). This workshop can be considered as a timely update to the previous DPD workshop held by CECAM in July 2008, “Dissipative Particle Dynamics: Addressing deficiencies and establishing new frontiers”, and several of its participants will be invited to update on progress gained since then.
