Multidisciplinary Conversations on the Theme of Biomolecular Structures

This mini-symposium, “Multidisciplinary Conversations on the Theme of Biomolecular Structures”, is convened to afford a structured forum for scholars and investigators from across the natural, chemical, and life sciences to examine a question that remains central to contemporary biomedical inquiry: how the three-dimensional and supramolecular architecture of biomolecules dictates their physicochemical behavior, their molecular interactions, and, in the final analysis, the integrity and function of living systems. In departure from a strictly disciplinary framing, the program is deliberately orchestrated as a sequence of cross-boundary dialogues—bridging structural biology and cryo-electron microscopy with quantum-chemical and molecular-dynamics modelling, polymer physics with medicinal chemistry, computational bioinformatics with materials science, and synthetic organic chemistry with evolutionary and comparative biology. In each contribution, presenters are encouraged not solely to report original findings but to articulate unresolved questions that inhabit the intersection of their own discipline and an adjacent one, in the conviction that such lateral, integrative discourse has historically been the principal engine of paradigm-shifting advance in our understanding of proteins, nucleic acids, membrane assemblies, and the broader molecular machinery of life. It is the sincere hope of the organizing committee that, by the close of these deliberations, participants will depart not merely with a more nuanced appreciation of biomolecular architecture, but with newly forged collaborative frameworks and intellectual avenues poised to inform their subsequent research endeavors.
